How to download Ubuntu Desktop OS?

We all know about Linux OS, and about its reliability, solid, stable, and free nature. In fact, I'm also one of those persons who love Linux. But, there're many people out there who are looking to switch to Linux OS. So, here's just one of the step to switching to Linux OS, in which I'm going to show you how you can download Ubuntu Desktop OS?

So, Let's start:

>Things required:

  • You need a PC, or Laptop with an Internet connection;
  • atleast 2 gb of HDD space (with obviously you have).

>Procedure:

  1. Firstly, open the web browser, and go to this web address (Ubuntu|Home);
  2. Now, go to the "Downloads" tab, and click on "Desktop" edition;

     3. Then, a new page will open, and now you've two options to download, either download it via Torrent (P2P), or Direct Download (HTTP). So, I'm going to show you both ways:

First Way (Direct Download):

  1. Click on the big green Download button, and wait for few seconds;
  2. A new page opens, and here you've an option to either donate to this project, or you can just skip this;
  3. So, if you just wanna skip this then scroll down to the bottom of the page, and then click the "Not now, take me to the download" link;

       4. Now, your download will start automatically. Save the ISO file to your desired location.

Second way (BitTorrent):

  1. Firstly, in order to download any kind of files through Torrent (P2P) system you must have a torrent client installed in your PC/Laptop. I recommend, "qtorrent" (qtorrent|Home), download it and install it;
  2. Then, again open the ubuntu.com and go to the "Downloads" tab, and click on "Desktop" edition;
  3. Click on the "Alternative downloads and torrents" link;
  4. Now, a new page will open, scroll down, and stop where you'll see written "Bittorrent"
  5. Now, here you've multiple downloads options, but, I recommend to download the latest LTS release, which in this case at the time of making this tutorial is Ubuntu Desktop 16.04.03 LTS;
  6. Click on your desired OS architecture link (If your system is 32bit then select 32bit, and if it is 64bit then select 64bit)
  7. Now, you'll get a popup of the torrent file, just select open, and click on "OK"

    8. Now, your "qtorrent" program will open with a dialog box, which shows your information about your torrent download.

  9. Then, just select your desired location to save the file,and click on "OK" and your ISO file will start downloading.

So, here's the procedure to download the Ubuntu Desktop OS presented in simple steps.

Hope this helps :)
